These herbs have been traditionally used to help expel parasites, tone the digestive tract and assist with internal and external fungal infections. Its use helps create a healthy environment for beneficial organisms such as acidophilus, yet is hostile to some parasites. Paravac™ has been officially tested on llamas and alpacas by Dr. David Anderson at Ohio State University. It was found to be most effective against COCCIDIA, even surpassing current drug therapies. It was also found to be safe during pregnancy and lactation with Camelids. Recently, several ranches have found it to be effective against E. Mac.ť or Eimeria macusaniensis.
Paravac™ dosage
LARGE ANIMALS:
To calculate how much Paravac™ is needed to treat your animals use the following method:
Each animal needs 2ml Paravac™ per 100lbs of animal weight daily for 14 days.
Example: For a 150lb adult Alpaca:
First divide 150 by 100 which equals 1.5. Then multiply the 1.5 by 2ml for a total daily dose of 3ml for this animal.
The treatment period is 14 days so 3ml per day multiplied by 14 days=42 ml total Paravac™ needed for this one animal.
Say there are 16 adult alpacas that are all approximately 150lbs. and 4 crias with an average weight of 60lbs.
We already know that one 150lb animal needs 42ml for the full treatment protocol.
So, 42ml multiplied by 16=672ml needed for the adults.
Then, multiply the cria weight of 60lbs by 4 = 240lbs.
240 divided by 100 equals 2.4 multiplied by the 2ml per day dose=4.8ml needed per day.
Multiply the 4.8ml per day dose by the 14 days of treatment and you have 67.2ml total Paravac™ needed for the crias. Add the cria and adult totals together=739.2ml. Round this to 740ml needed to treat the whole herd for 14 days.
Paravac™ is sold for Large animals in 1oz (or 30ml), 2oz. (or 60ml), 4oz (or 120ml), 8oz (or 240ml), 16oz. (or 480ml), and 32oz (or 960ml) bottles.
You could then decide which size would be best for your herd. In this case, the closest size would be a 16oz. and an 8oz. and a 1oz bottle. Or, you could choose the 32oz size and have some on hand for use on dogs, cats, goats, sheep, etc., or for possible internal/external use on fungal imbalances.
If you are unsure of the quantity of Paravac™ you need, e-mail or call us with the number and average weight of animals you wish to treat, and we will calculate the quantity for you. For example, 15 adult alpacas at approximately 150 lbs. and 7 crias average 50 lbs.
CAUTION: Paravac™ is not intended for use on horses due to a possible allergic reaction to Black Walnut.
Paravac™ can also be given orally by syringe in the side of the mouth being very careful that the animal does not aspirate this or any liquid. It can also be given in the animals drinking water provided they do not have acess to other water sources. For the water bucket method: First guesstimate daily water consumption of animals to be treated. Add 2 ml Paravac™ for each 100 lbs. of animals to water. Repeat for 14 days. If this method is used in the summer when very hot, try to put buckets in the shade.
